REUTERS REPORTS MASSIVE REINFORCEMENTS, INVASION OF IRAN UNDER CONSIDERATION BY WHITE HOUSE
We may be headed for an extraordinary escalation of the war Donald Trump keeps claiming we won.
The Pentagon has already dispatched the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, with 2200 additional troops, to the Middle East, and they are reportedly considering deploying thousands more as they discuss seizing the oil export hub at Kharg Island or attacks on the northern shore of the Straits of Hormuz. Either move risks committing the United States to the sort of long-term Middle Eastern conflict the public has been demanding we stop.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who will be part of a “mutual decision” with Trump on when the war ends, is indicating that regime change will require a “ground component.” Regime allies in Congress have started to move the goal posts, claiming that taking Kharg Island would somehow not count as “boots on the ground” or an “invasion.”
Again: this is not how democracies are supposed to go to war. There was no imminent threat to us, the only crisis is the one Donald Trump created, and the American people do not support it. Data for Progress found 68% of us – including 48% Republicans – oppose putting troops on the ground in Iran. And the terrible human cost of this unnecessary war, especially for Iranian civilians, keeps growing.
Let’s reach out to our members of Congress again and make it clear to them that we’re saying no boots on the ground, and they need to communicate to the White House they won’t support it. HILTON IS PART OF THE ICE MACHINE
Corporate support is a pillar holding up the regime and the deportation machine. Hilton is part of that pillar, providing ICE agents with a comfortable place to sleep after a day spent terrorizing our neighbors. We’re continuing to make it clear to them that collaboration has a cost.
This coming week, Black Alliance for Justice Immigration (BAJI) is holding a coordinated week of action, targeting Hilton in the press, on social media and with daily call-ins. They’ll be holding a power hour each day at 2PM ET, gathering folks together to call the corporation and demand they stop working with ICE and CBP. 🪧 We can sign up to join these actions here. 🪧
If we can’t make it or just want to do more, Sunrise Movement is also continuing its reserve-and-cancel campaign. They’re holding a webinar on how to write effective letters to the editor on TUESDAY from 6-7:PM ET. TELL CONGRESS WE NEED POLICE OFFICER ACCOUNTABILITY
Families across America are living in fear – not because crime has spiked, but because the guardrails on law enforcement have been dismantled. One of the first things the Trump administration did after taking office was shut down the National Law Enforcement Accountability Database, known as NLEAD, a Biden-era reform to prevent officers with misconduct histories from bouncing between agencies undetected. In the process, they’ve weakened public trust and undermined public safety. Congress has the power to bring NLEAD back and needs to hear from us now. ✍🏻🗣️ We can add our names to this Moms Rising petition and use its language to reach out to our members of Congress directly and demand this protection against bad cops be reinstated. ✍🏻🗣️
WE WILL NOT ABANDON THE PRAIRIELAND DEFENDANTS
The Prairieland defendants have been convicted. The Trump DoJ invented an “antifa cell” out of thin air and then successfully convicted some of its members of terrorism for a shooting they insist they were uninvolved with and evidence suggests they had no idea would happen. It’s a chilling moment for anti-ICE protest organizers, who now have to worry about being held responsible for anything that takes place at one of their demonstrations and have seen some basic tactics held against them in a court of law. It’s also scary for anyone who cares about the right to dissent.
The legal fight is not over. There’s appeals ahead, and state-level charges for some. 💲 Let’s continue to show solidarity by contributing to their defense fund here. 💲

PA – JOHN FETTERMAN JUST SAVED MULLIN’S NOMINATION
With Trump’s Homeland Security Secretary designee Markwayne Mullin having endorsed violence against Senator Rand Paul, we had a real chance to stop him in committee. Instead, his nomination advanced 8-7 thanks to a yes vote from Pennsylvania’s John Fetterman.
Fetterman was also one of just six Dems to help confirm Kristi Noem last January, enabling her disastrous, corrupt, and deadly leadership of the department, and has been the lone Senate Democrat to vote to end the shutdown and allow ICE and CBP to continue abducting, terrorizing and killing in our communities. 🗣️ Let’s make sure he hears loud and clear that he is failing Pennsylvanians.
