OUR MIDTERMS ACTION PAGE: YOUR GUIDE TO HOW TO HELP WIN THESE ELECTIONS
We are now less than 100 days from an opportunity to flip the House and the Senate and put a check on Trump’s power in place for the rest of his term. We’ve also got multiple state governments up for grabs and some historic ballot initiatives coming before the public. The billionaires are spending wildly to stop us from taking advantage of this chance. We’ve got to put in the work to beat them.
Rogan’s List has pulled together a comprehensive, continually-updated action page, bringing as many ways as we can find for folks to volunteer to make a difference in this election from wherever you are in one place. If you’re looking to phonebank, textbank, write letters, signal boost on social media, we’ve got you covered, broken down by day and by campaign!
And we’ve just added a huge wave of new phonebanks for everyone from Jon Ossoff to Manny Rutinel. We’re aiming to answer the question of “what can we do for midterms” as definitively as we possibly can.
Please bookmark and share this resource, contact us to help us keep it growing, and put it to good use for yourself, your networks and your organizations!
HELPING SECURE OUR VICTORIES BY BEATING VOTER SUPPRESSION LAWS…
Our action page features the standard work of persuading folks to support our candidates and making sure they get out to vote. To acknowledge the elephant in the room, that’s not our only challenge under Trump 2.0. We need to make sure our voters can make their ballots count, and that the results of the elections are respected where we win.
The folks at VoteRiders have made it their mission to take on the first part of this problem, working one voter at a time to help them jump the hurdles the GOP is putting in their way. This week, we’ve got multiple chances to get plugged in to their work!
TONIGHT at 7PM ET, they’re holding an orientation for folks willing to provide hands-on assistance to folks trying to secure an eligible voter ID. Once we’re trained, we’ll be working one-on-one with folks who are struggling to obtain the documents they need to cast their ballots in key swing state communities. 🙋♀ Let’s sign up to join them here. 🙋♀
On Thursday at 7PM ET, they’re holding a training for new volunteers for the VoteRiders helpline. This is remote work helping people who have reached out to the organization seeking assistance with ID issues. 🙋♀️ Let’s sign up to join the team here. 🙋♀
Also on Thursday at 7PM ET, VoteRiders is hosting a textbank to reach at-risk voters in Ohio, giving them accurate info on what they need to do to make their votes count and helping them get the required IDs. 💬 We can sign up to join this outreach here. 💬
…AND PREPARING FOR TRUMP INTERFERENCE BY GETTING OUR SHERIFFS ON BOARD
Putting up barriers to folks casting their ballot is far from the most dangerous way Trump and MAGA can try to steal this election, and we need to lay the groundwork now to deal with more extreme threats like the regime sending ICE to the polls or seizing ballots. The Workers Circle is organizing to push local law enforcement to stand up for democracy when the time comes. They’re expanding their Talk to Your Sheriff campaign to urge these crucial officials to publicly reaffirm their commitment to upholding the Constitution, protecting free and fair elections and supporting the peaceful transfer of power.
TOMORROW at 8PM ET, they’re holding a campaign launch call for this effort, talking through the goals and tactics, hearing from sheriffs who are already onboard about what they can do, and walking through the tools in the pledge organizer toolkit. 🫱🏻🫲🏿 We can sign up to get fully briefed on this work here. 🫱🏾🫲🏼
THE PUSH FOR MEDICARE FOR ALL IN THE NEXT TRIFECTA STARTS NOW – DAY OF ACTION THURSDAY
January 20, 2029 feels like it’s a very, very long ways away. But the groundwork for what happens in the next administration is being laid out right now. Positions are being staked out, policies are being written and tested with the public. Progressive voices must have a say in them. If we are able to earn a Democratic trifecta, we need to be sure we are prepared to use it as effectively and aggressively as possible.
Recognizing that the terms of debate over our next attempt to fix our broken health care system are being laid out as we speak, National Nurses United and a coalition of health care advocates are pushing to make sure we’re building institutional support for Medicare For All. On THURSDAY, the 61st anniversary of Medicare being signed into law, they’re showing up at Democratic congressional offices nationwide to urge our leaders support a real universal health care system. 🏥 Let’s find Medicare for All actions to join near us on NNU’s map here. 🏥
🏥 If there’s not one already on the books for our members of Congress, let’s consider signing up to organize our own here! The Medicare For All coalition will provide training, materials, support and help recruiting! 🏥
LEARNING MORE: HOW TO HAVE HARD CONVERSATIONS ABOUT RACE, WHAT THE DSA IS ALL ABOUT
We’ve got some great opportunities to build our skills and knowledge in the next few days we can take advantage of!
TOMORROW NIGHT at 8PM ET, Showing Up for Racial Justice is holding a training for white people on how to have hard conversations about race and politics. With lives on the line as white supremacy grows in power and influence, being a good ally and accomplice to people of color calls on us to do much more than express our anger. We need to take on the hard work of helping change minds, staying grounded and treating those around us with dignity while also pushing them towards a more just view of the world. SURJ has spent decades doing this work, and they’ve got practical tips and tools we can use. 🏫 Let’s sign up for this training tomorrow evening here. 🏫
Meanwhile, while white supremacy is growing, so is a powerful movement to counter it with economic justice. The Democratic Socialists of America are on the move, upsetting moderate candidates in primaries and becoming a significant force in electoral politics on the left with their agenda of Medicare for All, higher minimum wages, abolishing ICE, ending the forever wars and making our government work for working people instead of billionaire donors. But some of the most influential people in American politics are terrified about what their rise means for them, and they’re engaged in a serious campaign of fear-mongering and misinformation to blunt it, everywhere from Newsmax to more respected mainstream media like The Atlantic. DSA congressional candidates Cori Bush and Oliver Larkin are pushing back, holding a mass call on WEDNESDAY AT 6:30PM ET to de-mystify the movement and bust the myths being pushed about it. Whatever our views on the DSA, this will be a good opportunity to learn how to counter right-wing narratives. 🏫 We can sign up to get more informed on Wednesday here. 🏫
