PATH TO HOUSE CONTROL THROUGH COUP PLOTTER’S DISTRICT
Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) was a key co-conspirator in Trump’s coup attempt. As a leading figure in the House Freedom Caucus, he has fought to shut down our government and opposed infrastructure investment and the Violence Against Women Act while backing defunding the FBI and banning abortion and IVF. Unlike many of the major MAGA figures, however, Perry’s seat may be genuinely competitive in November. Analysis by Daily Kos Elections shows Trump only beat Biden in the 10th by four points in 2020, Josh Shapiro won by 12 here in 2022, and Democrats now hold a majority on the Dauphin County commission for the first time in more than a century. Cook Political Report has rated PA-10 as ‘lean GOP’ and highlighted the strength of Democratic nominee Janelle Stelson, a longtime local TV anchor who has been endorsed by EMILY’s List and The United Mine Workers and decided to run after doing a newscast on the Dobbs decision.
