JOINING THE CALL FOR TRUMP TO TESTIFY OVER EPSTEIN
Late last week, the Justice Department published a trio of FBI interviews with a young woman who graphically described President Trump allegedly sexually assaulting her when she was a minor, after they were introduced by rapist and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. These are the (newest) Epstein files the press caught the DoJ attempting to withhold from the public. (According to investigative journalist Roger Sollenberger, there are at least 37 pages still missing.) This comes just after the House Oversight Committee subpoenaed Trump’s attorney general over the handling of the files, reached an agreement with his commerce secretary to appear before them, and pushed former President Clinton and former Secretary of State Rodham Clinton to testify.
It all raises a pretty obvious question: why are our members of Congress making everyone but Trump answer for Epstein? How can they possibly justify that?
Folks including Reps. Robert Garcia and Ro Khanna have been asking, but we’re going to need a lot more of our elected officials to join them. 🗣️ Let’s reach out to our reps and ask them to join the push for Trump to testify over his Epstein connections – the charges against him, his involvement in the cover-up, everything. We can find scripts and language to use here or send this message directly by texting SIGN PQYSBT to 50409. 🗣️
Let’s also continue the fight for systemic change to protect survivors and push our MoCs to co-sponsor Virginia’s Law and end the statute of limitations for their civil claims.
BIG OIL IS NOT ABOVE THE LAW… YET
Everyone knows this song by now: Trump and congressional Republicans are preparing a massive payoff to their fossil fuel donors.
Multiple states, along with municipal and tribal governments, are filing tobacco industry-style lawsuits targeting the fossil fuel industry to recover damages for climate disasters. Meanwhile, New York and Vermont have passed climate polluters pay laws, forcing them to help pick up the bill for the mess they’ve made, and plenty of state legislators are looking to follow in their footsteps. In response, Big Oil has lobbied MAGA to pass a federal liability shield based on the one that currently protects gun manufacturers. Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY) announced last month she was planning on introducing legislation that would preempt both the suits and the state laws.
The Center for Climate Integrity is leading the fight against this giveaway to corporate interests. Here’s some ways we can help:
📝 Sign this petition to Congress opposing Big Oil immunity before THURSDAY, helping show our numbers and pulling together folks who will take further action 📝
🗣️ Reach out to governors, state and local officials and ask them to endorse this letter with the same demand, also before THURSDAY 🗣️
🗣️ Contact our members of Congress directly to oppose a fossil fuel liability shield using this script from 5Calls or this email tool from the Union of Concerned Scientists 🗣️
✊🏿 Join CCI’s next national organizing call on making sure Big Oil is not above the law on THURSDAY at 3:00PM here ✊🏻
🗣️ Keep pushing state legislators to pass make climate polluters pay – if the fossil fuel industry is trying to block them we must be doing something right! We can find call scripts to use here or send them this message via Resistbot by texting SIGN PQDLOO to 50409. 🗣️
HELP MAKE SURE GEORGIANS VOTE THEIR OSSOFF AGAIN
Flipping the Senate will already be a tall order with a tough map, even in what’s looking like a strong Democratic year. It will be virtually impossible without reelecting Senator Jon Ossoff in Georgia. Early polling indicates he’s well-positioned against all three potential GOP nominees, with close to 50% support and strong numbers among independents. But he’ll be subject to a barrage of attacks as the only Democrat up for reelection in a state Trump won in 2024, and the Republican takeover of the state board of elections makes him particularly vulnerable to MAGA election interference. We need to help put him in as strong a position as possible. This week, the Ossoff campaign will be holding multiple lunchtime trainings to join their outreach network on the Reach app, preparing us to help spread the message on social media, organize our community and canvass voters. 🙋♀️ Let’s sign up to join them here. 🙋♀️
THE CONTRACTORS WHO MAKE THE CAMPS WORK
The folks at Project Salt Box report that contracts were awarded yesterday to renovate two of ICE’s human warehouses in Surprise, Arizona and Williamsport, Maryland. GardaWorld Federal Services will make $313 million to help make the Arizona concentration camp functional. These sorts of contractors will be crucial to getting Trump’s detention archipelago up and running, and as concentration camp historian Andrea Pitzer has flagged that makes them a pressure point we can be pushing on. Our state and local officials can pass measures barring detention camp enablers from getting further government contracts, subsidies, or tax breaks, dissuading some from getting involved or cutting into the profits of those who choose to anyways. Let’s reach out to them and ask them to do so ASAP. We can find language to use here, and send this message to state legislators and governors by texting SIGN PLIQAJ to 50409.
HELP PROPUBLICA TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT THE MAGA MASS DEPORTATION MACHINE
Some of the best reporting on the American human rights crisis caused by the Trump/GOP/MAGA mass deportation machine is being done by ProPublica—like this must-read story in which ProPublica reporter Mica Rosenberg interviewed the children imprisoned at the Dilley, Texas, concentration camp and described the inhumane conditions of their detention. 🗞️ If we or someone we know has worked at a detention facility housing immigrants; has been detained at such a facility; knows information about companies with contracts to build and provide services at such facilities; or can share other insight or information about immigration detention facilities, let’s get in touch with ProPublica’s reporters through Signal at 917-512-0201. We can also share any letters, images, videos, or other documentation with ProPublica — info on how to do that securely is here. 🗞️
✊🏿 Meanwhile, ProPublica NewsGuild members on the verge of a strike as they push for AI guardrails, higher pay and job security. Let’s support the folks doing some of the highest quality journalism of the Trump era by donating to their strike fund or signing this petition to management. ✊🏻
THANK THE JUDGES WHO ARE HOLDING THE LINE
Facing threats, political pressure and a Supreme Court that has frequently not had their backs, lower court judges are still doing vitally important work to keep this administration’s power within the bounds of the law. Let’s acknowledge their work and send encouragement to keep fighting!

23 days of shutdown and the fight to stop ICE terror continues - call, email Congress to demand real restraints, encourage folks in key states to do the same, and tell senators not to confirm a new DHS secretary until we get them

Is there any action that’s voter rights or voter drive related? Rumor is SAVE act is still alive with lots of pressure from WH to opt for the nuclear option in the Senate. That, plus state specific work we can plug into for upcoming primaries?
Katie Johnson alleges that, when she was a 13 year old child, she was tied to the four corners of a bed and raped, while onlookers ignored her screams for help. In 1994, the year this allegedly happened, the most requested Christmas gifts for 13 year old girls were Polly Pocket and Furby. Not sure why Ghislaine was transferred to a Texas dormitory style minimum security prison for white-collar criminals but, if Alvin Bragg convicts her in NY, she’ll be transferred to maximum security Bedford Hills.
