51 YEARS SINCE ROE V. WADE
Today marks the 51st anniversary of the Supreme Court confirming the constitutional right to choose in Roe v. Wade, and the second since that right was stripped away by extremist right-wing justices. Let’s mark this day by recommitting ourselves to fighting to restore guarantees for reproductive freedom. Here are some ways we can take action:Calling our members of Congress and asking them what they’re doing to protect abortion rights on the federal level - and urging them to cosponsor the Protecting Access to Medication Abortion Act to ensure the legality of mifepristone and guarantee it will remain available through telehealth and mail-order pharmacies
Checking up on the status of abortion laws in our state and asking our state legislators what they’re doing to strengthen them
Signing up for updates, to volunteer with and to donate to state-level campaigns to secure abortion rights at the ballot box this November in Arizona, Florida, Nebraska, Missouri, Montana, and South Dakota
Joining the Online Abortion Resource Squad (OARS), online counselors who use Reddit to provide accurate information and support services for abortion to those who need it most
Donating to our local abortion funds or to the National Network of Abortion Funds

TEXTING FOR VOLUNTEER MOBILIZATION - WEBINAR WEDNESDAY
Hard-working volunteers are essential for the success of any grassroots movement. But how do we inspire volunteers to join our cause and actively work towards it? Brady: United Against Gun Violence has emphasized mobilization through text messages - and their national organizing manager is sharing what they’ve learned with us this week.Let’s join Brady and CallHub for a webinar on texting to engage and activate volunteers on Wednesday, January 24th at 1:30 PM EST/10:30 AM PST by signing up here.
GREEN THE ELECTORATE
The Environmental Voter Project (EVP)’s mission is to build a powerful pro-environment electorate by identifying citizens who care about the environment but don’t vote consistently and turning them into consistent voters. One way that EVP does this is by enlisting volunteers to call people ahead of general elections and encourage them to vote. EVP has a number of phonebanking opportunities in NH, NV, and NY that we can help with right now. No experience necessary! Let’s take a look at the opportunities and register to phonebank!
GET OUT THE (ENVIRONMENTAL) VOTE ACTION PARTY JANUARY 30
Next Tuesday, January 30th at 7:00 PM ET, Brett Walter of Climate Action Now and Nathaniel Stinnett of the Environmental Voter Project are guest speakers at a Get Out the (Environmental) Vote Action Party. It is being moderated by our friend and ally Jessica Craven who is the creator of Chop Wood Carry Water. This is NOT a fundraiser - it’s simply an opportunity to hear two very smart strategists talk about how we can win this year with climate as our guiding light. Let’s sign up using this Eventbrite link. (h/t )
ENCOURAGE STATES TO FOLLOW CALIFORNIA’S LEAD AND SUE BIG OIL
The California Attorney General is suing five major oil companies for deceptive practices related to climate changing including deliberately spreading misinformation and (according to the Climate Reality Project) greenwashing. In the past, similar actions against tobacco companies finally resulted in their having to change their marketing. Let’s ask our state Attorney General to launch a similar suit so we can once and for all make sure people learn the truth about climate change and Big Oil’s role in it.
STATE-SPECIFIC ACTIONS
CO - GET READY FOR NOVEMBER
With Lauren Boebert changing districts and both Doug Lamborn and Ken Buck retiring, the seats of all three Republican MOCs from Colorado are up for grabs. As Indivisible Colorado notes, “this is a great opportunity to support the progressive candidates in CD 3, 4 & 5 and keep the MAGAs out of the House of Representatives!” Let’s sign up for updates from the Indivisible Colorado Action Network so we can keep an eye out for actions in these districts as the campaigns get going.
AND FINALLY, SOME GOOD NEWS
LAST WEEK’S WINS
It may not always feel like it, but our work is making a difference every day.
outlines a few ways how in her run-down of last week’s wins, including the Biden Administration announcing a plan to fine oil and gas companies for excess methane emissions, a legislative seat flipped in central Florida, and another $4.9 billion in student debt erased.
