DAY OF ACTION TO SAVE THE POSTAL SERVICE TODAY AND SUNDAY
Destroying the U.S. Postal Service would raise prices and burden folks who get their medications by mail, small businesses, and rural communities. But privatization might make billionaires a profit, so Trump and Musk are coming after it anyways. TODAY is the first of two national days of action this week to spread the word about these attacks and rally support to save the post office. Let’s find a US Mail Is Not For Sale event near us to join today here, and look for a Hell No! Hands Off USPS action we can attend on Sunday here. If we can’t make either, we can still be sure our lawmakers here from us to oppose the dismantling of the Postal Service, contacting them with call tool from the American Postal Workers Union.
TELL CONGRESS TO STEP UP PROTESTS AGAINST ICE GOING ROGUE
Only 14 members of Congress signed a letter circulated by Rep. Rashida Talb, demanding the immediate release from detention of Mahmoud Khalil, a green-card holder married to an American citizen who is 8 months pregnant, and fewer than 90 more added their names to a follow-up inquiry pushing for more information. Khalil has not been charged with a crime; his arrest stems from his participation in pro-Palestinian protests, a First Amendment right guaranteed by the Constitution. Regardless of our opinions on the conflict, punishing people for protesting is a dangerous precedent that all of us hitting the streets right now should be wary of. And despite claims from the Administration and others that these protests are antisemitic, many Jewish organizations have publicly decried this excuse of supposed antisemitism, arguing that arresting Khalil and other pro-Palestinian demonstrators do not make Jews any safer. In fact, it was a judge from the Orthodox Jewish community who blocked Khalil's deportation. Yet too many of our leaders remain eerily silent. And this has enabled ICE to go after other permanent U.S. residents, like Fabian Schmidt, a German engineer, who was taken into detention without so much as a stated cause. Let's tell our MoCs, particularly if our representative is on the Progressive Caucus and did not sign either letter (see list here), that we are sick of weakness and acquiescence, and ask them what definitive plans they have to stop ICE from targeting legal U.S. residents without cause. We can start with base scripts from IfNotNow and 5Calls.
PRINT AND DISTRIBUTE RED CARDS LISTING IMMIGRANTS’ KEY RIGHTS
Everyone in the U.S. has rights under the Constitution, no matter their immigration status. Now, more than ever, it’s important for people to know what these rights are. The Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) has given us a convenient way for immigrants to have this information with them when needed. ILRC's “red cards” help people understand and use their rights at crucial times, like when ICE comes to a home. We can look here to learn how to get red cards or print them in different languages so we can help distribute them to whoever might need them. Here’s some other resources we can spread the word about and put to work:
The National Korean American Service & Education Consortium (NAKASEC)’s free Know Your Rights app, which has information about people’s legal rights in multiple languages to break through language barriers, available on Apple and Android
NAKASEC’s immigrant helpline phone number for confidential assistance in English or Korean: 1-844-500-3222
the National Immigration Legal Services Directory for anyone who needs legal support
State-specific resources for immigrants and refugees from the Refugee Welcome Collective
The ACLU’s comprehensive page on immigrant rights, translated into many different languages
IMMIGRANT ADVOCATE, GRANDMA FACING DEPORTATION
On Monday, immigration enforcement arrested Jeanette Vizguerra, an undocumented activist who has spent her life fighting for workers and immigrants, while she was on break from her job. Jeanette has lived in America for 30 years. She’s a mother and grandmother of American citizens a and community leader who is a member of the National Domestic Workers Alliance and the American Friends Service Committee. During Trump’s first term, she spent three months living in a church in Denver to avoid being deported and separated from her family, and she’s fought to keep other families together. She’s also been a prominent critic of Trump, and Denver Mayor Mike Johnston condemned her arrest as part of a “Putin-style persecution of political dissidents.” Let’s sign the NDWA’s petition asking for her immediate release here, and consider a donation to cover her legal fees here.
DRAW A SUN LOGO FOR “SUN DAY”
Donald Trump is busily tearing up efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and claiming he is going to bring back the coal industry. It’s devastating for our efforts to address climate change. But global warming isn’t the only reality Trump is refusing to acknowledge – he’s also sticking his head in the sand about the economic advances we’ve made with clean energy. The price keeps falling, and it keeps becoming easier to get more of what we need from it. This is a message we need to make sure everyone truly understands to weaken the grip of the fossil fuel industry. Environmental activists are planning a global day of action on September 20th and 21st to show the world we can run it without fossil fuels: Sun Day. Right now, they’re looking for some creative help! They’re about to launch, and they’re looking to do so with thousands of takes on their logo. They’ve set up their site to let us draw our own. Let’s check it out, add our logo to the Sun Day Coalition’s collection here, and get ready to promote this new effort.
STATE-SPECIFIC ACTIONS
DE – DOES ELON MUSK NEED MORE POWER? VOTE COULD COME TODAY
While Elon Musk takes a wrecking ball to public services and robs us blind in DC, legislators in Dover are proposing legislation to ensure he gets a $55.8 billion pay package from Tesla and even more influence. As Rogan’s List covered last month, the Delaware Court of Chancery ordered his compensation deal rescinded after it was challenged by shareholders, saying it was inappropriately set by a Tesla board Musk controlled and shareholders were misled into approving it. SB 21, the “billionaires’ bill” written by Musk’s law firm, would reduce protections for minority shareholders and redefine his role as “controller” of the company – empowering oligarchs like him, allowing boards and controllers to avoid judicial scrutiny, and silencing unions, pension funds and regular individual investors. This is the absolute opposite of how our laws need to change. As one critic put it, it puts Delaware in direction competition… for the state which gives controllers the clearest and easiest to follow road map to commit grand larceny.” Yet last week it passed the state senate unanimously. This bill could be set for a final vote in the House as soon as TODAY. Let’s reach out to our reps and Governor Meyer to tell them Elon Musk doesn’t need more power – regular people do. We can use language from this petition from our state’s Working Families Party chapter here. We can also spread the word by sharing this article from or this video from PoliticsGirl on YouTube.

The privatization efforts are a big grift, creating opportunity for Trump-approved oligarchs to sweep in and buy these brand new franchises. They are so huge, small players are locked out. https://hotbuttons.substack.com/p/watch-the-treasury?r=3m1bs
