NO NORMALIZATION, BOYCOTT INAUGURATION
Donald Trump has attempted to violently overturn the results of an election, promises to use state power to punish those he considers enemies, is filling his team with rapists who fantasize about civil war, and is openly contemptuous of the Constitution. There is nothing normal about the next administration, and we need our elected officials to clearly communicate that to the public. One easy way they can do so is by not going along with the normal trappings and formalities of the transition like Trump will be any other president. Trump himself already ended the tradition of attending his successor’s inauguration to express his unhappiness that his election lies were not accepted. President Biden and Vice-President Harris should send a similar message about Trump’s dangerous plans for our future. Let’s contact the White House and urge President Biden and Vice-President Harris not to attend Trump’s inauguration.
HANDLING THE HOLIDAYS POST-ELECTION
Heading into the holiday season in the aftermath of disappointing election results can be tough. Fortunately Red, Wine and Blue is here with several ways to help us cope. If we are blue dots feeling isolated in a red area, we can check here to find a TroubleNation group of like-minded people organizing for local change near us. If we’re wondering how to handle Thanksgiving with MAGA relatives, we can check out this video. Moving forward, if we’re looking for ways to stop extremists’ anti-reproductive freedom, anti-family, anti-public education policies, we can take a look here.Â
TELL BIDEN TO PUBLISH THE EQUAL RIGHTS AMENDMENT
Since Virginia became the 38th state to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), it has been in limbo - while technically enough states have now approved it for it be part of the Constitution, they did so after Congress’ sunset date had expired, and several have subsequently revoked their resolutions. With Trump soon to take office, not to mention recent Supreme Court decisions, the rights of women are being threatened on many counts. A coalition of 300 organizations is calling on President Biden to take final action by publishing the ERA as the 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Let’s join this effort by contacting the White House and adding our voices to this important effort. We can also use this toolkit to amplify the call in our social media postings.
TELL YOUR GOVERNOR TO WORK WITH LEADERS IN OTHER STATES TO SAFEGUARD DEMOCRACY
Governors JB Pritzker of Illinois and Jared Polis of Colorado have formed a non-partisan organization to collaborate across state lines to push back on the increasing autocracy threatened by the upcoming Trump administration. If we live in a state that has a governor that’s likely to be sympathetic, let’s ask them to join the organization. If we live in a state that is currently run by a MAGA governor, let’s ask them what they are planning to do to avoid federal overreach and Trump’s autocratic leanings.
CARING FOR LGBTQ+ YOUTH
While politicians stoke division via anti-trans bills and books bans and what-have-you, LGBTQ+ youth have a 120% higher risk of homelessness, are more likely to experience assault, trauma, depression, suicide, family rejection, sexual exploitation, discrimination, and more. The Massachusetts Commission on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer & Questioning Youth—the only state government commission of its kind in the US—annually issues a report and recommendations that legislators and policymakers can follow to address the needs of LGBTQ+ youth. Here’s the 2025 report. Let’s tell our state legislators that LGBTQ+ youth are vulnerable members of our community deserving of protection, and we want them to establish a permanent state commission to study their plight and publish annual factual reports with policy recommendations.
STATE-SPECIFIC ACTIONS
OK – SAYING NO TO CHRISTIAN NATIONALISM IN THE CLASSROOM
State superintendent of schools Ryan Walters has made himself into a rising MAGA star by trying to force his particular version of Christianity on every kid in our public schools. Activists have announced a new way to push back, with Defense of Democracy putting out forms that let parents opt their children out of his initiative to incorporate the Bible into classroom instruction and his prayer video. This will protect our kids as individuals and provide a tool for school districts looking to illustrate parental opposition to these policies. Let’s check out these forms, submit them for our kids and spread the word to our friends and neighbors.
THIS WEEK’S SCHEDULE
Rogan’s List will be on a break for the rest of the week as we celebrate Thanksgiving. Our next issue will come out Monday, December 2nd. We hope you all have a safe, happy and healthy holiday!

How about encouraging allies to wear black on January 20, especially those who cannot be present at protests? If you don't have any black in your wardrobe, throw together a black arm band. As for me, my entire wardrobe for the next four years will be black--light black, medium black, and dark black.
