CONTROVERSIAL CONGRESSMAN IN A PURPLE DISTRICT
Rep. Derrick Van Orden, who elected to Congress despite being part of the rally on January 6th and whose political career has been marked by temper tantrums, outbursts and confrontations with teenagers over LGBT-themed children’s books, is up for re-election next month. Both Cook Political Report and Inside Elections have the Wisconsin Third ranked as lean Republican, and PBS Wisconsin has referred to this district as the “most purple district in a purple state.” The controversial Van Orden is facing Democrat Rebecca Cooke, who founded an organization to support women entrepreneurs, and served on the board of directors for the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. Swing Blue Alliance is holding phonebanks for Rebecca on Mondays and Saturdays. Let’s sign up here if we can!

VOTING WHILE UNHOUSED
We do not need to have a permanent place to live to be able to vote. If we are homeless, or between homes, or we move around a lot; if we work in agencies that provide services to unhoused people: let’s consult this guide from the federal government and make sure that we are able to vote in this fast-approaching election.
AUTHORITARIAN TACTICS THREATENING ABORTION INITIATIVE IN FLORIDA
Trump and DeSantis have been pushing hard to defeat the effort to protect abortion rights at the ballot box in Florida – DeSantis has even used his power to threaten TV stations to get them to pull ads for it. Ominously, their authoritarian tactics may be having some effect. New polling suggests the yes vote is falling well short of the 60% required for Amendment 4. But we’ve beaten the forced birthers before and we can do it again. The Yes on 4 campaign has multiple phonebanks, textbanks, and canvasses running in the next few weeks. Let’s sign up for a shift here.

TALK TO THE NEIGHBORS
"Neighbor2Neighbor, a project of Indivisible, is the most impactful and easiest way to make a difference this election – by talking to our own neighbors! Indivisible is deploying this innovative, relational door knocking program to knock 200,000 doors in battleground races in 2024. It’s going to take neighbors talking to neighbors to fight back against MAGA extremism and secure our rights. When we sign up, within minutes, we'll be sent a list of names, a short script, best practices, and a printout with voting information to bring with us to the doors. Then we're all set to start having conversations with our neighbors, whenever is convenient for us. We can sign up for as many doors as we want after our first 10." This is not available in every state or neighborhood, but we can sign up or find out other ways to help. Let’s check this out here.
