Ways we can help get out the vote

• TURN THE TAR HEEL STATE BLUE

  We have major dangers and huge opportunities in North Carolina this cycle. Republicans are running an extraordinarily extremist slate, featuring a self-declared Nazi gubernatorial nominee who has spread conspiracy theories and hate and  endorsed political violence; an attorney general candidate who was a coup co-conspirator; and a pick for state superintendent of schools who was a participant in January 6th and has called for the military to overthrow the government. Democrats can block them from power, break the GOP’s legislative supermajority, protect a crucial seat on the state supreme court – and secure the electoral votes that will clinch the White House for Kamala Harris. • CHECK OUR ABSENTEE BALLOT STATUS

  Millions of us have voted by absentee ballot this season.  There is a way that we and our family and friends can check the status of our ballots to verify that they have been formally accepted.  Let’s click here and make sure that our ballot has been received.  If it has not, this is a good time to follow up with your local election official.

• WAYS TO CALL OR CANVASS WITH THE HARRIS CAMPAIGN

  With election a week away and the race still very close, the Harris/Walz campaign has several ways for us to help out. If we are looking for  events near us, we can sign up on the this take action form. If we want to make calls, we can use their call tool now to talk to voters in key states.  We can also join one of their national phonebanks today and make calls for at least an hour or we can host our own phonebanks immediately and, if we like, make our phonebank a weekly recurring event. If we want to canvass, we can get free rides on buses going from surge states to battlegrounds states through election day. To find the bus nearest to us we can go to go.kamalaharris.com and input our zip-code to find buses leaving from our state below.

• BLUE VOTER GUIDE HELPS EXPLAIN BALLOT

  Even when we vote straight ticket, there are non-partisan portions of our ballots that are sometimes very confusing.  The Blue Voter Guide was developed to help us learn more about those candidates and who endorses them.   Let’s use the easy-to-use Blue Vote Guide to help our decision making and share it with friends and family, too!

• HEATHER COX RICHARDSON AND JOANNE FREEMAN TALK HISTORY

  Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 30 at 7 PM ET, the non-partisan United To Preserve Democracy and the Rule of Law is hosting a free event in Philadelphia (with a free live-stream option) with historians Heather Cox Richardson and Joanne Freeman.  It is always a lively discussion when these two get together, especially during this election season.  Let’s sign up here for the live event and sign up here for the virtual option.

• SPANISH SPEAKERS NEEDED FOR PHONE BANKS

  The PA Dems are reaching out to Hispanic and Latino voters across PA and need Spanish speakers from anywhere to help them.   They want to call Spanish-speaking voters to listen to their concerns, talk about the upcoming election and their voting plan, and give Kamala Harris and Democrats up and down the ballot the boost they need to win this November!  We will start with a short training on how to use our phonebanking system and a script overview.
