NATIONAL VOTER REGISTRATION DAY TUESDAY
This coming Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day! None of us want to miss out on this historic election, and we want to get as many people as possible to make their voices heard! NextGen’s organizing team is holding phonebanks all day on September 17th to ensure young voters in key states are registered. We can sign up to join their phonebank here. Let’s also use and share this link to register to vote or to check our registration.
SPREADING THE WORD ON PROJECT 2025
Project 2025, the right wing’s regressive, authoritarian blueprint for our nation’s future, has made the stakes of this election clear. The Heritage Foundation published a 900-page book on exactly how they plan to destroy our democracy and devastate millions of lives. This agenda is deeply unpopular, which is why Trump has tried to run away from it, but we know the truth. Trump publicly proclaimed the Heritage Foundation was putting together a plan for his second term from the very beginning. He’s openly championed some of its most dangerous elements like the civil service purge. There is extensive overlap between Project 2025 and Trump’s campaign promises and his published platform Agenda 47, with CBS identifying at least 270 policy proposals in common. And the people who wrote it made policy in his first administration and are poised to do the same in his second – and are even working on his campaign. We need to make sure everyone knows how they intend to reshape the country if Trump wins – without requiring every voter to dig their way through 900 pages on their own. One way we can do so is through letters to the editor. We can pick an aspect of Project 2025 we are especially alarmed by, write 200 words or less on what the goal is and what it would mean for regular people, and submit it to our local and regional papers’ opinion sections. Once published we can then share these letters on social media and with our network. Let’s check out these resources on Project 2025 and start putting together letters to the editor:Democracy Forward has summarized the project in their People’s Guide to Project 2025
Media Matters has put together a full guide to the project here
Stop The Coup 2025 has put out an extensive breakdown of the project’s proposals here
25 and Me – this website has broken Project 2025 down into bullet points by topic
Third Act has prepared this short video explainer on Project 2025 and this worksheet to help us identify which parts of it we care about most
Project 2025 Truth has prepared memes and infographics for social media we can use as a model and share online
National Popular Vote has a good guide to which papers you can submit to and Indivisible has some tips on how to write a strong letter

A “DO SOMETHING” ROADMAP
We all want fulfill Michelle Obama’s mandate that we “do something,” but figuring out how to get involved can be daunting. Enter Volunteer Blue. VB is “a new project of more than 30 different national and regional organizations who have come together to recruit, coach, and train volunteers to work in the most important races across the country to elect Democrats. VB is focused exclusively on volunteers and the volunteer experience.” Their “get started” web page offers an easy-to-follow roadmap for choosing how we want to be involved—even offering free one-on-one guidance from an activism coach if we’re still confused. Let’s visit the Volunteer Blue website and do something!
