ENCOURAGE YOUTH VOTE THROUGH CLIMATE CONCERNS
According to the Environmental Voter Project, 40% of youth in swing states say they will only vote for a candidate who makes climate action a priority. Harris and Trump have extremely different views on climate change, with Harris supporting many progressive measures and Trump wanting to abandon the progress made by the Biden administration and return to fossil fuels. Let’s make sure the younger voters in our lives are aware of the differences and consider donating to Sunrise, a youth movement that is currently engaging in a massive youth voter contact to elect champions of the Green New Deal.
UPHOLD 2024 ELECTION RESULTS
A bipartisan group of 30 House members have signed a pledge to uphold the results of the 2024 election. This pledge, which they're calling a unity commitment, is an agreement to “safeguard the fairness and integrity” of this fall’s presidential election. If we have a Republican House member, let’s demand that they sign on to it. (h/t)
SIGN UP FOR INDIVISIBLE NEIGHBOR2NEIGHBOR PROJECT:
Indivisible is recruiting volunteers in swing states and key congressional districts to talk to their neighbors in order to encourage increased voter turnout. We can find out more and sign up here. If we don’t live in a swing state or key district, we can still help in other ways. Let’s do it!
SPANISH-LANGUAGE PHONEBANKING FOR KAMALA
There are some 36 million eligible Latino voters in the US, representing nearly 15% of those who can cast a ballot in November. Their votes could make a real difference in swing states this year. We can help reach them through phonebanking. Here are two opportunities: a bilingual phonebank into Reading, Pennsylvania, today, September 18, and regularly scheduled bilingual phonebanks with the Democratic Party’s Latinos Con Harris-Walz. If we speak Spanish, or are at least proficient, let’s sign up and urge Spanish-speaking Americans to go to the polls.
SUPPORT THE HIP-HOP CAUCUS “RESPECT MY VOTE” CAMPAIGN
The Hip-Hop Caucus “Respect My Vote” campaign focuses its outreach to teens in marginalized communities helping them register and get to the polls by incorporating influencers to inspire people to vote. This non-partisan effort emphasizes racial justice and saving the planet as key reasons for people to use the power of the ballot box. Let’s find out more about this important campaign and learn how we can support their efforts.
