STOP THE STEAL IN VIRGINIA AND WHAT TO DO WHILE WE WAIT FOR RESULTS
Voting is now underway on new congressional maps for Virginia, with Democrats well positioned to pick up four extra seats if the yes votes prevail. Surveys in the last week have put us up by four and five points, so hopefully we should have plenty to celebrate tonight. But we’re going to keep pushing right up until polls close. ☎️ If we have any time today, we can do a little last-minute GOTV phonebanking through 6PM ET with Virginians for Fair Elections by signing up here. ☎️
Once phonebanks close down, no need to sit around anxiously refreshing our screens for results. We’re just two weeks from a crucial special election in the fiercely contested Michigan state senate. A Republican victory in the Saginaw-area 35th District, which Kamala won by 0.8% in November 2024, would give both parties 19 senators. Firefighter, Marine Corps vet and union man Chedrick Greene, who is running on universal preschool and lowering health care and housing costs, is the Dem pick against MAGA lawyer Jason Tunney, who is calling for making it easier to union-bust in Michigan. ☎️ States Win is going all in on Greene, and their next weekly phonebank for him is TONIGHT from 6-8PM ET. Let’s sign up to join them here. ☎️
💬 If we’d rather get some textbanking here, Organizing to Fight Oligarchy is launching one at 7PM ET, looking to let folks in the Arizona Second Congressional District know their MAGA rep Eli Crane voted to kick 22,000 of them off their health care. We can sign up to help out here. 💬
TRUMP THREATENS PREMEDITATED MASS MURDER IF HE DOESN’T GET HIS WAY, AGAIN
The ceasefire in Trump’s war with Iran is set to expire tomorrow night. It is unclear what happens next – as is typical, the White House is giving deeply mixed messages. Trump has claimed a deal could come together relatively quickly, although since he falsely insisted Tehran “agreed to everything” on Friday this is essentially meaningless. He also says he is unlikely to extend the ceasefire without one and is once again threatening genocidal attacks on the country, pledging to “blow up” the “whole country” and knock out “every single power plant and “every single bridge.”
Following Trump’s initial pledge to wipe out an entire civilization, Representative John Lawson (D-CT) filed a resolution to impeach him. According to the League of Women Voters, “impeachment proceedings can be initiated by any member of the House. Once this process is initiated, an investigation involving all relevant committees, which is usually overseen by the House Judiciary Committee, takes place.” If a majority of the Judiciary Committee concludes that Trump engaged in an impeachable offense, the process can proceed to the full House. Members could also force a floor vote by raising it as a question of the privileges of the House.
We all know the reality here. Mike Johnson’s House of Representatives is filled with people who wouldn’t vote to impeach when Trump tried to kill Congress, and even if we could squeeze it through in the House we are miles from the votes to convict in the Senate. Given the depths of depravity Trump has sunk to, it is still worth raising our voices for - to keep Trump’s unhinged speech and behavior in the news and encourage journalists to report it for what it is, to force Republican members of Congress to be on record as supporting genocide, and if nothing else because someone needs to draw a moral line in the sand at premeditated mass murder. 🗣️ Let’s tell our Members of Congress to co-sponsor HR1155, and tell them we need to impeach Trump immediately. 🗣️
DEADLINE TO WEIGH IN ON TRUMP RULE THAT WOULD EVICT THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN
For decades, undocumented family members have been able to live with documented relatives in public housing. Trump’s Housing and Urban Development Department is proposing a change to the mixed status rule that would end this protection, forcing some 24,000 families to choose between separating or risking eviction and homelessness. It’s not just cruel. It’s also costly, since unsubsidized residents in federal housing paying higher rent, thus supporting everyone else, and creating a whole new set of administrative burdens on an weighed-down system.
Housing activists are pushing back, trying to keep families housed and together. Today is the FINAL DAY we can submit public comments in opposition to this rule at the Federal Register. ✍🏻 Let’s make our opposition known. We can send in our comments directly here, find talking points to work from here and here, or use the Alliance for Housing Justice’s action tool here. ✍🏻
A WORKING FAMILIES GUARANTEE
Right now, American families are working harder than ever. But it’s billionaire CEOs who are pocketing all the gains. Every year, corporate profits hit a new high, while our paychecks pay for less and less. This is not an accident. It’s a deliberate choice being made by the billionaire class and the politicians they bankroll.
The Working Families Party, elected officials led by Reps. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) and Delia Ramirez (D-IL), and allied organizations (including Rogan’s List!) are coming together to demand a different choice: the Working Families Guarantee, a vision of a country where every person can afford the basics of housing, healthcare, and child care, has time to spend with their family and a good job, paid for by taxing the rich, achieved by getting money out of politics. They’re formally rolling out this agenda this morning. We’re proud to endorse it, and we hope our readers will be too.
✊🏾 We can sign on to this platform here, read the research behind it here and learn more about how WFP intends to organize to make it happen in a mass call MONDAY at 8PM ET here. ✊🏼
#DEICECITIZENSBANK WEEK: REVIEW, SHARE, PREPARE
Today marks the final day of the De-ICE Citizens Bank coalition’s digital week of action, urging the bank to drop their financing of CoreCivic and The GEO Group. 🔁 For our last push, the activists are asking us to repost any of their posts from social media this week, adding a personal note on why this issue matters to us – and if we’re a former Citizens customer who switched over their support for concentration camps (see how to do so here) or a current customer who is planning to, let’s be sure to note that! We can find their accounts on Bluesky, Instagram and Facebook. 🔁
The coalition’s work is far more than just digital. On Thursday, Citizens will hold its annual shareholders meeting at its Providence, Rhode Island headquarters. 🪧 If we’re nearby, let’s join “The People’s Shareholder Meeting to De-ICE Citizens Bank,” a peaceful protest that will take place outside the building. We can learn more here and RSVP here. 🪧
STOP THE BOOK BAN BILL IN CONGRESS
The book burners have been emboldened by the Trump regime. On Monday, the American Library Association released an annual report that found a record 5,668 books were banned from libraries in 2025, with challenges focused on experiences of LGBTQIA+ community and people of color. And they’re looking to grow their reach.
The House Education Committee has voted to advance H.R.7661, the Stop the Sexualization of Children Act. The bill, if passed, would prohibit the use of federal education funding to “develop, implement, facilitate, host, or promote any program or activity for, or to provide or promote literature or other materials to, children under the age of 18 that includes sexually oriented material…” PEN America and 100 grassroots group are warning us that the bill “will compel nationwide book censorship. It confuses obscenity with identity and stigmatizes vulnerable young people, particularly trans children and teens, based on who they are. It will continue to drain funding from our already underfunded schools and libraries. And it will threaten the creativity and critical thinking that are vital to education in the U.S.” 🗣️ Let’s tell our Members of Congress to reject this effort to censor books in our public schools. We can find call scripts to use here. 🗣️
