KEEP UP THE MOMENTUM FROM HANDS OFF – AND SHARE PHOTOS WITH US!

What an amazing, inspiring, energizing weekend of protest! Organizers are estimating over 3 million people hit the streets at over 1300 events to say “Hands Off” on Saturday, including more than 100,000 in Chicago and Washington D.C. alone. And it wasn’t just in deep blue territory, with big crowds showing up in places like Moscow, Idaho, and Fayetteville, Arkansas. To quote Mother Jones: “You can stop asking where the mass opposition is. It’s everywhere.”
Hands Off needs to be just the beginning. We must keep bringing new people into our ranks, showing our strength at protests, and turning our numbers into organized activism in all different forms. Here’s what we can do now next:
Thank anyone we convinced to attend for coming, check in about their experience and encourage them to stay engaged (maybe with a subscription to Rogan’s List!)
Talk up our experience at Hands Off protests to folks who didn’t attend to lay the groundwork for inviting them next time
Make sure we’re signed up to get future updates from event organizers in our area and see what else they’re working on besides protests
Mark our calendars for hitting the streets again! The 50501 Movement has already announced their next major protest date for April 19th – marking the 250th anniversary of the start of the Revolutionary War. We’ll be able to see what’s scheduled near us here, and check the Big List of Protests for any near us in the meantime. Plus we can try to attend TOMORROW’s #KillTheCuts day of action events and join #TeslaTakedown picket lines near us this weekend and recess events with Indivisible next week!
We’re also going to be running protest photos all week in Rogan’s List! Folks can submit them to roganslisttips@gmail.com. (And share #HandsOff stories in the comments!)
THIS WEEK’S MESS OF A CONGRESSIONAL AGENDA, STARTING WITH THE BUDGET…
Congress is set to begin a two-week recess at the end of this week, but Republicans aim to make this last bit of work before they head home as damaging as possible for the country. The House’s top agenda item for the week is considering another budget resolution, after the Senate GOP’s magic trick/compromise measure passed 51-48 early Saturday morning. The bill as written still sets us up for more than 36 million Americans to risk losing their health care and 40 million to see their food assistance shrink to pay for tax cuts to billionaires, but it aims to kick almost all of the details down the road. A number of prominent House Republicans, including the chairs of the Freedom Caucus and the Budget Committee, have harshly criticized the measure, which is currently planned for a floor vote Wednesday.
There is still a long way to go even if they manage to squeak this compromise through, and this is a good opportunity to continue to make the case against their steal-for-the-rich agenda. Let’s be sure to contact our senators to let them know how we feel about their vote (roll call here) and let our representatives know we want them to stop this before it gets any further. We can find scripts here and resources here (and we can add with our calls that if they want to deal with taxes, they can start by rolling back Trump’s tariffs). This is especially important if we’re in these 15 Republican-held districts that would see particularly hard hits to their seniors in hospice, disabled children and workers without employer-provided insurance. And for all of us, People’s Action is holding phonebanks every Thursday to reach folks in swing seats to encourage them to pressure their MoCs, which we can sign up for here.
…AND INCLUDING VOTER SUPPRESSION, PUNISHING JUDGES AND RESTORING PREDATORY FEES
As if the budget weren’t bad enough, the rest of the House’s schedule for this week is also nightmarish. Last week internal divides within the House Republican caucus over Rep. Brittany Pettersen (D-CO) and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL)’s effort to secure proxy voting for new mothers blew up their legislative plan, but Luna and Speaker Mike Johnson have reached a deal to formalize the long-used “pairing” system instead, so this should go more smoothly. That means we’re headed for votes on H.R. 1526, an effort to prevent judges from using their authority to stop Trump from acting like a king; H.R. 22, the voter suppressing “SAVE” Act; and S.J. Res 18, a Congressional Review Act resolution that would eliminate the Biden Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s rule stopping big banks from charging predatory overdraft fees. Let’s reach out to our representatives to object to all three bills. We can find scripts here, here and here.
SPEAKING OUT AGAINST ICE’S ILLEGAL ARRESTS AND DETENTIONS
It’s easy to feel powerless reading one terrifying story after another about ICE’s attacks on international students, green-card holders, activists, tourists, and others arrested by masked men in unmarked cars and sent to far away detention centers with no due process. Yet, to remain silent can amount to tacit approval of these Gestapo-like topics, especially as Trump “border czar” Tom Homan threatens to ignore court orders. Axios has published a list of some of the high-profile cases. Let’s familiarize ourselves with them here and then let’s bombard our MoCs with calls about each of these individuals, demanding that our leaders intervene and stand up for due process - we can find base scripts to use here. We can also send this message via Resistbot objecting to funding for mass deportation and detention.
STOPPING THE STEAL IN NORTH CAROLINA
Republican efforts to steal a seat on the North Carolina state supreme court have been in a holding pattern as the lawyers fought it out. On Friday, they took a huge and ominous step forward. Two Republican judges on the state court of appeals ruled in favor of GOP candidate Jefferson Griffin that more than 65,000 votes must be recounted and verified – and potentially thrown out, changing the results of a race incumbent Democrat Judge Allison Riggs won by a thin margin. These are overwhelmingly legitimate registered voters who showed ID to vote, but do not have their driver’s license number or last four digits of their Social Security number in their voter file.
Judge Riggs is appealing, and the court order is not yet in effect. But once it is, voters whose ballots are being attacked will have 15 days to address deficiencies that will allow their votes to count. The folks at Triangle Blog Blog have created the Griffin List, a searchable database of the people whose votes Griffin is trying to nullify. Let’s be sure to spread the word about this database so all North Carolinians can check if they’re at risk, along with this set of instructions on how they can update their voter file to make sure they’re counted. We can also join the North Carolina Democratic Party for a briefing tonight at 6 PM Eastern on what this ruling means and how we might be able to help defend these votes, or sign up for updates on rapid response opportunities with the North Carolina Dems here.
PRESERVING HEALTH CARE FOR THE TRANS COMMUNITY
Among their many attacks on the trans community, the Trump Administration has targeted their health care access. A new rule from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services would ban states from requiring coverage for gender-affirming care as an essential health benefit under the Affordable Care Act and create new barriers to ACA enrollment. This means medically-necessary care is going to be much harder for trans people to access – even in states that want to do right by their citizens. CMS is taking public comments on this rule through Friday. We can submit ours here, and work off of this sample comment from Advocates for Trans Equality here.

There is conspiracy in the air. Trump dumped stock before the tariffs were defined. Pam Bondi continues to debase herself. She is complicit in Signalgate as a Signal user and too corrupt to recuse herself. Until we have the House, we cannot impeach. We will have job growth because of the CHIPS Act and the Infrastructure bill. But the jobs shipped overseas are not coming home. https://hotbuttons.substack.com/p/jobs-wont-come-back?r=3m1bs
Our best lever and pressure point is our Republican Senators and Republican House Members. They must fear us more than "Agent Orange." Please evaluate each state keeping a list of how their respective Republican Senator and Republican House Representative are voting on Democrat Maria Cantwell's active legislation moving to the House for bringing Tariff control back to the Congress which they already have but as Minority Democrats need Republicans to vote for it, to uphold it and honor the law . Then provide times and addresses to set up protests at the offices of the Republicans and if legal their neighborhoods of the Republican Senators and Republican House Representative who are not following their Constitutional oath, to the people to protect the people to ensure public safety against threats, foreign and domestic:
Here is how the unlawful, and unconstitutional treasonous occupiers of the Executive Branch, not recognized as a legitimate by our foreign allies are proceeding and why we need to pressure the Republican Congress now!
Verifying these facts is important as we proceed being that we do not have National News Journalists doing their job and keeping the people informed and up to date with accurate reporting. We need to assure accuracy and that we are all focused on the same set of facts and action steps so no invalid theories are floating out there causing more confusion then there already is.
1) How the administration got the Tariff’s through was manipulating the 1977 IEEPA “ The Emergency Economic Power Act:, “ Which was intended for Emergency against a Foreign Adversary during Nixon Administration and misused it to fit his overthrow.
2) All of this is a man made up economy problem by the Administration. And all the economic problems were created by Policy and Tariffs .
3) They do not see Chairman Powell intervening or Fed Coming to rescue of markets or housing unless something devastating happens
4) They foresee a “ shadow Fed Chair” put in to control of Powell prior to the May 2026 when Powell’s term is up – obviously under the guise of transfer of duty.
5) No implication Congress coming to help as nothing started in Senate will pass the House. Republican Senators signing onto Democratic leader Maria Cantwell's legislation to give the appearance they are supporting more authority over Tariff's which they already have. (Our only lever is the House Republicans and Senate Republicans in each respective state and make them more afraid of the people and the Constitution they swore oath to and are failing to protect and uphold.
7) Totally disregard any Economic reference to the 2016 – 2020 events from that administration, this is 100% unrelated and totally different people and decisions being made. Look at who is around him.
8) Peter Navarro, Senior Council for Trade and Manufacturing is running the economic and trade portion of the economy but “Agent Orange 47’” will override him so listen to everything he says ( as hard as it is). Secretary of Treasury, Scott Bessent is also one to listen to but Navarro overrides him.
9) Their tactic is to have this all in place with-in a year (obviously before mid-terms and the Fed Reserve change over in May 2026 so those events are disrupted and they control the outcome)
10) They will try to get people to take their eye off the economy and focus on their fake illegal wins with immigration and demonize the immigrants and inflate their successes here to distract from their Economic take over goals and destroying the markets and crypto moves.
11) US Companies are afraid of them and as of today only one has filed lawsuit since the tariffs were put in place.
No one is coming to save us, we must organize where big and early impact as the Dictator is digging in deeper into our safety back ups and stand up to our elected Republican Representatives in each of our respective states that are not doing their jobs if we want to preserve our freedom and democracy. God Bless America and Our World Neighbors, we are all in this together! We the people need to organize now and get in front of this take over!
We appreciate all you are doing to get into “Good Trouble,” on the organizing and leadership side!
Many thanks from " We the People."
