I'm totally dismayed that you consider the requirement of a voter Id to be a barrier to voting. We have no election integrity if we can't positively verify a persons identity. I suspect that black people find it humorous or insulting to think they are not capable of providing a picture id.

The post Susan shared covers this issue very well, but I'll emphasize one point: more than 25 million American adults, disproportionately people of color, lack a government-issued photo ID (https://phys.org/news/2023-04-young-people-valid-photo-identification.html), and Rogan's List has also highlighted Project ID Action Fund and Spread The Vote's efforts to ensure there's a no-cost ID available to everyone: https://www.idforid.org/advocate

I think it’s a logical solution to provide photo IDs to everyone that wants to vote. A worthy goal. I’m not sure how it became a racial issue except for political purposes. Seems insulting to black people. Its safe to say that their are a lot of poor white people in this country. Particularly in rural areas.

Having voter Id is even more relevant considering the fact that over 6 million illegal aliens have come across the border in the last 2 years. It creates a situation that can be easily abused by unscrupulous people.

Thank you for providing the links. It’s helpful.

It really became part of voter suppression tactics and happened that more people of color had difficulties obtaining the correct ID for a multitude of reasons. Here is an example of what has happened: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/jun/25/voting-rights-act-voter-map-registration-id-racism-supreme-court-georgia Instead of helping people get what they need to voted, the emphasis is on supressing votes. Not sure where you got the number for border crossing refugees, but there were less than 300,000 in 2022 and the numbers now are lower than in years. https://www.politico.com/news/2023/07/18/illegal-border-crossings-drop-00106934 I cannot imagine feeling that the safety of my family requires that kind of trek. Tragic.
