I am part of a committed group who has called every day trying to stop votes on horrible cabinet members and clearly the reconciliation bill. How do I motivate everyone to continue when we make no difference stopping this horrific regime? Everyday I look for a small win. But we are here to fight for another day.
I've been a part of conversations about this very thing. What I have concluded (and I'm no orator nor master of words, I'm afraid), is that we probably ARE making a difference and are unable to see it.
This is an incremental struggle, and we can't see the way that we are pushing members of Congress if we are only looking for A Big Loss.
If we could see our MoCs getting overwhelmed with messages, or wavering inside because of our stories, we'd see the ways that our efforts do make a difference. Without being able to see that, we need to take experts' words that it is helping, and remember that we're doing it because it's RIGHT.
If we use only the defeat of the president's pet bill, or of the prez himself, we're overshooting and going to be disappointed. This is a longer, more complex game than that.
