WRITE POSTCARDS FOR SENATOR SHERROD BROWN
Great news postcarders! Postcards To Voters is writing for Senator Sherrod Brown in Ohio now. Keeping Senator Brown in office is essential if Democrats are going to hold the Senate. This is a great opportunity. Becoming a postcard-writing volunteer involves sending a sample postcard to prove we’re not bots and then we can begin requesting addresses (each volunteer supplies the postcards and stamps). If we are already a registered volunteer, we can email, text, or Slack for addresses and instructions. Let’s get involved here!Â
MAJORITY OVER MAGA PHONEBANKS WITH INDIVISIBLE
We’re all sick and tired of the MAGA majority in the House – who at their best are mired in endless infighting and at their worst are pressing a dangerous, extremist agenda. We’re working to make sure President Kamala Harris gets to work with Speaker Hakeem Jeffries. Indivisible is holding a series of phonebanks targeting key districts we need to deliver a Democratic Congress in the next few weeks, starting Tuesday at 7 PM EDT. This week we’ll be reaching out to two districts Biden won in 2020: AZ-06, where educator and former state legislator Kirsten Engel is taking on border wall advocate Republican Rep. Juan Ciscomani AND Y, and CA-27, where former NASA chief of staff and private spaceflight CEO George Whitesides is challenging election denier and national abortion ban supporter Republican Rep. Mike Garcia. We can sign up for Tuesday’s phonebank here or check out future opportunities with Indivisible’s Majority Over MAGA project here.
HELP PROTECT THE VOTE WITH SWING BLUE ALLIANCE AND VOPRO PROS
Election Day is drawing near, and we must make sure that our voters are able to vote safely and that their votes will be counted. Unfortunately, Republicans have been hard at work suppressing the vote and we need to stand up for voters and protect their rights. Now, Swing Blue Alliance, partnering with VoPro Pros,  has several ways we can help including helping voters get their ballots submitted, or fix mistakes with rejected absentee or mail-in ballots, staffing voter protection hotlines, recruiting poll watchers, and making sure eligible voters remain on the voter rolls. We can do much of this from home, at times that work for us. While legal professionals are particularly useful, since some issues require legal interpretation, all volunteers are welcome. We can find out more about helping to Protect the Vote, and then sign up here to help.Â
SUPPORT THE REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS INITIATIVE IN ARIZONA
Moveon.org is coordinating a virtual phonebank on Tuesday September 24 at 8PM, ET to encourage Arizona voters to support the reproductive rights initiative (Proposition 139) on the state ballot, as well as the Harris/Walz ticket. Let’s sign up to get involved here! If we’re interested in getting involved, but not available at that time, let’s sign up to volunteer with Arizona for Abortion Access. Â
WINNING AT THE LOCAL LEVEL
So much of the governing that affects our lives most directly is done at the local level. It’s also where we build the bench that will lead us in the future, and create reverse coattails that can provide an edge in big name races. There are some great ways we can help these candidates win! Lead Locally’s Calls for Climate project is hosting phonebanks for climate action champs in city council and state legislative races every Wednesday through the election we can sign up for here, and Run for Something is hosting a training call on how we can best assist local candidates this Tuesday, September 24th at 8PM we can join here.
TEACH-IN ON PROJECT 2025 TUESDAY
There’s still plenty of time to write a letter to the editor warning of the dangers of Project 2025. But if we’re looking for inspiration, more information, new talking points and resources, Virginia Tech is hosting a webinar on Tuesday, September 24th at 7PM on what this conservative blueprint does and what it means for us, featuring Professors Elizabeth Cohen and Don Moynihan (@ his substack?) and journalists Sarah Posner and Adam Serwer. Let’s sign up here and help spread the word about this event to our friends and neighbors who are just tuning in.
I love these action lists! Thank you! My latest action is Vote Forward letters to encourage voter registration in key states, as well as Postcards to Voters for Sherrod Brown. I haven’t found any organization writing for Jon Tester in Montana. Does anyone know of any? I hope they have not given up on him!
